What are dental implants?

Implants are the best option for replacing lost teeth. They are titanium screws that are surgically implanted into the bone.

Dental implants are made up of two fundamental elements:

Implant. This is a screw that is placed in the bone, it is biocompatible and tolerated by the body.

Crown. It is the visible part and performs the same functions as a real tooth.

At Clínica Ronda, we also have all the digital tools to carry out guided surgery. This allows us to obtain more predictable results, increasing the success of the treatment.

What techniques are currently available?

We can distinguish 3 techniques:

  • Immediate load implants or “teeth in a day”. a provisional prosthesis is placed on the same day as the implants are placed. Therefore, the patient leaves with teeth in the same session, but once the implant(s) is/are integrated, the definitive prosthesis will be fitted. definitiva.
  • Conventional load implants. The prosthesis is placed in a second procedure after an osseointegration period of 2 to 4 months.eses.
  • Late loaded implants. The prosthesis is placed in a second procedure after a healing period of 6 months. It is usually accompanied by bone regeneration.

What are the causes of tooth loss?

Tooth loss is quite common. The most frequent causes are; poor oral hygiene, hereditary problems, poor diet or excessive intake of sugars, among others.

Dental absences produce changes in our mouth that trigger medium/long term damage such as:

  • changes in the position of the teeth that will cause overload and pain.
  • severe atrophies that make implant treatment more complex.
  • damage to the gums during the ingestion of food.

To avoid tooth loss, it is necessary to visit the dentist every six months or at least once a year. It is also essential to brush your teeth three times a day, in the morning after breakfast, after lunch and after dinner before going to bed.
